In partnership with San Francisco State University, we are proud to offer The ZomBee Watch Program for school and community members around the country to participate in real-world scientific research!

Community members can join this project directly through the Zombee Watch Project Website

Educators can join The ZomBee Watch Program for Schools here. This program is offered in partnership with The Planet Bee Native Bee Citizen Science Project and includes virtual STEM lessons and educational materials that guide your students through the scientific method to collect and input data.

Throughout this project, our educators will teach your students about bee behavior and biology, pollination, bee population collapse, the zombie fly life cycle, and ZomBee behavior. You and your students will design and engineer light traps in class to catch parasitized bees. Students will set out their traps, examine and document what they catch, and finally post their findings on the official ZomBee Watch website database! These results will go onto a map of the world which shows everywhere ZomBees have been found, thus contributing to real scientific research. During our last skype session, Planet Bee educators will wrap up the project by answering all of your students’ questions.

Email us at programs@planetbee.org to learn more and bee-come part of the solution!
